Part One: Taking the Shot
On courage, creativity, and saying yes before you’re ready

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
— Wayne Gretzky
Lately, this quote has been finding me. It’s shown up in client conversations, in quiet moments of journaling, even while sketching ideas for what’s next. It’s one of those phrases we all know, cliché perhaps, but somehow, it lands differently now.
As I continue to shape my work, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to take the shot; to say yes to something before knowing how it will unfold.
Some risk? Of course. But really, what’s to lose?
When I make mistakes, I remind myself: if I’m going to fail, may I do so seldom, and with humility, grace, and aplomb.
But what I’ve realized is that taking the shot itself is an act of courage. Saying yes when it’s easier to hold back. Trusting that what’s meant for us won’t miss us.
It’s one thing to talk about alignment or readiness - another entirely to live it. To act on intuition, to create before clarity, to begin before the conditions feel perfect.
Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is start - not because we’re certain, but because we’re curious.
